2021
FENG SHUI
year of the yin metal ox

Fengshui for this overall year:

Fengshui cures are to be placed on the Solar New Year, February 4th (but can be done anytime of the year; it's never too late!). The actual Chinese New Year (Lunar New Year) was January 25th this 2020 year. Each year there are 4-5 auspicious directions, and 4-5 inauspicious directions (the Center is counted as a direction in the Chinese system). Here are the directions for this year:

Auspicious 2020 directions: Northwest, West, Northeast, Southwest, Southeast, with the NW and W being the most auspicious areas this year. Hang out and active them the most!

Inauspicious 2020 directions: East, South, North, Center, with additional negative energies in the South and North. Especially avoid renovation work in the East and keep the East, North and South quiet.
NORTHWEST

The Northwest hosts the powerful star this year and is the most auspicious direction, with the #8 Prosperity and Wealth Earth Star visiting. This is a great area to enhance your career, happiness and finances. This is an area where the fruits of your hard work will be reaped!

Enhancers:
Keep this area lively and clean! It is also good to open doors and windows in the NW section of your home this year to let the good energy come in! Also a great direction to sit or sleep in.
Try not to use heavy metals or too many reds in this area. That being said, if your office, front door or bedroom are in the NW, though if you have a door in this area, place a red or purple cloth at the entrance to strengthen prosperity. Classic
fengshui financial enhancers such as money trees, Chinese coins, gold ingots, and money frogs can also enhance your wealth potential. Rose quartz, mandarin ducks, or anything that symbolizes love to you can be put here to enhance romance.

NORTHEAST

#1 Victory Water Star, representing success, winning and good reputation.  Favorable if your office or front door are in this position.

 Enhancers:
Decorate your West bagua area with the Water and element colors— blues and blacks — as well as with items and fengshui cures that represent/carry the energy of Water. Examples of good fengshui Water element cures are fountains, images of water and mirrors. For Chinese enhancers, a "happy" Buddha,   bagua mirror is beneficial as well as a 3-legged money toad to promote wealth. Be sure to avoid Fire element items and colors in your NE area in 2020, such as the color red and candles.

SOUTHEAST

The Southeast is an Auspicious direction this year with the #6 Celestial, Heavenly Energy Metal Star visiting.
This star is beneficial for success and promotions. It represents a kind of authority based on hard work and perseverance.  This is a great area for work success, but if your bedroom is located in this direction, the negative aspects of the energy such as loneliness, sadness, and sudden changes may affect you.

Enhancers:
Display Auspicious Windchimes  to activate this metal element ruled star. You can also place a bagua mirror in this area to enhance the metal element as well as enhancing finances.
A gem tree in this area may also enhance wealth as well as quartz stone. Blue and black are good in this area, but avoid fire (which melts metal).

Picture
SOUTH

This year, the #2 illness star visits the South.  This relates to health problems as well as possible money loss.

Cures:
Metal fengshui cures help drain the Earth energy.
These include metal singing bowls, metal objects or the Metal color white or gray, as well as the  traditional fengshui cure of a Wu Lou, metal Buddha, Medicine Buddha, or a Kuanyin sculpture. A saltwater cure and Wu Lou protection gourd area also helpful to negate the illness star.

Be aware though, that the South is also affected by the Three Killings, so it is best to watch out for these two clashing energies and place the cures that you need.

Avoid: Fire colors and objects, such as candles and the colors red and purple. Keep the area calm, avoid renovation and do not use this area of the house very often this year.

As for the negative energies here in 2020 (called Three Killings), one of the best things you can do is to keep the area quiet and undisturbed. A classical fengshui cure for this specific negative energy is the image of the Three Celestial Guardians (ideally a small sculpture made from metal) as well as a salt water cure. Click here to read about creating your own Chinese saltwater cure.

CENTER

The #7 Betrayal Metal Star visits the Center this year. It represents aggression, robbery and betrayal.

Cures:
The Water Element is a great cure this year, as well as specific fengshui cures such as the blue rhino, blue elephant, blue crystal ball, water feature, and the colors blue or black. A pair of Kylin statues in this direction will help negate negative energies and bring in good luck to your family.

Avoid: R
emove all Earth and Metal energy from this sector.

WEST

The West is an auspicious energy this year, hosting the powerful #9 star of magnifying prosperity for 2020. If you sleep or sit in this area, you will reap extra benefits from this magnification energy. It is known to bring prestige, promotions, and overall good news. This is the second most prosperous energy of the year! The #9 star is also a fire element star, and is indicated for great wealth and luck.

Enhancers:
Focus on fire element to enhance the benefits of this star.
Fire element enhancers are colors such as purples, reds, pinks and oranges, candles, Himalayan salt lamps, and images of fire.  Since this is the #9 star you can also have 9 candles or 9 Chinese coins to enhance the wealth aspect of this star. Keeping this are clean tidy, light and airy and fresh flowing energy will welcome happy events. A few items with Wood element décor, such as plants with blue flowers,  and a Wu Lou (Chinese gourd) are wonderful as enhancers. Also the traditional fengshui money tree helps as well for wealth and good luck, as does Chinese coins .
Picture
SOUTHWEST

The Southwest is an auspicious energy this year, with the #4 Wood Star of Romance and Knowledge.
It is also associated with art and literature.

Enhancers:
Display fresh flowers in this area, and keep them fresh and happy. Small plants are also beneficial in this area to enhance the wood of this area. Focus on Water element decor, which means decor items in colors blue and black, mirrors or mirror-like surfaces in your decor, actual water features, etc. No metal or fire in this area this year.

Use the romantic potential of this star by displaying love enhancers,  such as a statue of lovers, heart symbols, and photographs of loved ones. A classic Chinese love enhancers is a symbol of 2 fish or mandarin ducks.

Books or a bookshelf in this area will strengthen the potential academic success granted by this annual star. This area is great for students, artists, writers, travelers and healers.
The SW area is a good area in 2020 to display your vision board (if you have or want to create one).

EAST

The  #5 Misfortune Star will bring negative luck and vibrations to families; it is the most dangerous area of your home and property this year.
This star is in charge of misfortune, disputes, injury. It is best to keep this area quiet and not do renovations in this sector of the house. That will minimize the negative affects this energy has on your life!

Cures:
Saltwater cure, anti-misfortune symbol (like a pagoda), metal chimes, Buddha statue, singing bowl. OM AH HUM chant. Metal is good in this area, as are colors of white, gray and blue good. Pi xue statues or a copper bell will help drive out the negative influence.s

Avoid: Renovation work in this area and keep it quiet. Remove fire elements (red colors, candles, etc.) as well as earth.
Picture
NORTH

The #3 Quarrelsome Wood Star visits the North this year. This star brings with it the vibrations of arguments, fights and lawsuits (not something any of us enjoy!).

Cures:
Avoid the Water element in this area and use the Fire element to weaken the energy of this star.
Fire element cures such as candles, Himalayan salt lamps, fiery colors (red, purple, orange, magenta and yellow), images of fire will help help negative the #3 Quarrelsome energy. A strong light source that is kept on most of the time is also a very good fengshui cure for the North area in 2020.  A red elephant statue will help transform and revitalize the area and negative negative impacts. A bagua mirror will also help deflect negative impacts.

Tai Sui/Grand Duke Cures:
Jade and bloodstone. 2 Gold Lion Statues (Pi Yao) placed in the South of the home, facing the North, as well as a Tai Sui/Grand Duke card in the North.
