Claire Wigglesworth, L.Ac., MAOM
Claire is an acupuncturist, Chinese medical herbalist, artist and lover of nature. She believes in the power of offering presence and a safe container to her patients. She also believes that through trusting the body’s innate wisdom as a guide and teacher, we can bring about profound change and shifts into wellness. Beyond acupuncture and herbal medicine, she loves to offer dietary and lifestyle advice so that her patients can bring their healing into their daily lives. Her path to Chinese MedicineClaire became inspired by Eastern medicine through her own experience of grief and explored first-hand the effects that acupuncture can have on one’s emotional body. Through witnessing the ways in which our Western medical system lacks a comprehensive understanding of the body-mind-spirit dynamic, she was led to seek out more holistic modalities.
She began her career in Chinese medicine at the Maryland University of Integrative Health, a Five Elements based school that emphasizes human’s interconnection with, and relationship to nature. This introduction sparked a joy, remembrance, and understanding of how health and wellness is reliant upon being deeply rooted in the cycles of nature. After a year of being steeped in the Five Elements tradition, she was drawn to the mountains of Western North Carolina to continue her studies. In Asheville, she developed a deep connection to the local plant life. As her understanding of Chinese herbal medicine grew, she began experimenting with making tinctures, wildcrafting local herbs, and exploring the potent powers of medicinal plant allies. This passion for exploration of plant-life led her to create Shen Moon Medicine, a small batch herbal medicine company. She loves the alchemical process of gardening, growing, wildcrafting and making a myriad of plant medicines including tinctures, salves, and sunscreens. Outside of the clinic she can be found rock climbing, dancing, singing, and exploring local plant life. |
