"I have met with Laura twice for assistance with longstanding mental/emotional health and digestive issues. Laura is SO tuned in with meeting patients where they are. She is extremely knowledgeable about antidotes for ailments, but she is also able to use her sense of intuition to assess what's most helpful in the moment. She has been able to assess and treat me as a whole person and knows how to provide the most useful treatment advice without overwhelming me. I feel very hopeful about working with her, and her craniosacral treatments are AMAZING!" The six principles of naturopathic medicine are:
I have been working with Laura the past year since she has arrived at The Light Clinic. For the first time in my Healthcare experience, I have felt really heard, and cared for, on all levels. Her expertise reaches far and has shifted my perspective on what is possible. Long term issues held now have a plan forward. She has walked by my side during a very dark time with an insight that has moved me over to healing-physically, mentally and spiritually. Working with Laura has empowered me and has connected me back to myself, knowing I'm supported and that she is in my corner. I cannot really begin to explain how that has changed my life, my heart. I am so thankful to have her in this community and in my life. |
Naturopathic MedicineGOOD FOR:A wide spectrum of major health complaints
General health, well-being & longevity Autism and Neurodiversity Chronic pain conditions Anxiety or depression Insomnia or sleep disturbance Fatigue Hormonal regulation ...and much more My teenage daughter has been suffering from multiple diagnoses (NDPH 2018, POTS 2021, hEDS 2021) and chronic debilitating pain since 2018. We have seen countless specialists in Louisville and across the country; before Laura, no provider had the capacity or even desire to synthesize the scope of these burdens to her life and our family. I am not a sentimental person, but since finding Laura at the end of 2021, I get emotional every time I think of how much we have learned in such a short time with our twice a week (at my request) high impact visits compared to the wasteland and abyss of medical appointments of the past four years. My child has opened up about what is happening inside of her body and mind because Laura asks questions, listens, translates, and remembers. We know that Laura is on this very hard journey WITH us. Finding an extremely competent, detailed professional with a smart, committed, informed, compassionate, and detective-like approach to helping us matters. While my child's suffering continues, we no longer feel like we are on this journey alone. I cannot recommend her highly enough. Naturopathic medicine is a system of health care of European origin that has been practiced in the United States since the 1800s. It emphasizes preventing and identifying underlying causes of imbalance and disease and supporting the body’s self-healing processes with natural therapeutic modalities, such as nutrition, movement, and herbal medicine.
Naturopathic doctors (NDs) are licensed primary care physicians in 23 states. They attend accredited four-year graduate programs, are clinically trained, pass licensing exams, and do regular continuing education to maintain licensure. Kentucky does not license Naturopathic physicians, so Laura holds a Naturopathic primary care license in Oregon but works here as a consultant and health coach. This means that Laura is trained to understand how pharmaceutical medications work safely with herbs and supplements, but does not diagnose medical conditions or prescribe pharmaceutical medications. There are also traditional Naturopaths who do not attend accredited Naturopathic medical schools or hold licenses. These Naturopaths have varied levels and types of education, but generally ascribe to the same principles of Naturopathic medicine. |
