Give-back to yourself and the Hawai’i community.
November 10-17, 2023 in Ka'a'awa, O'ahu
at the Windward Retreat Center
Nestled on the island of O'ahu between the foothills of the Ko'olau mountains and the raw beaches of the Pacific Ocean, it is the perfect container for all things that create the opportunity for RETREAT.
Retreat is a critical practice in life. You pull yourself out from your current life situation to gather your resources, gather your strength, create clarity and direction, and then ultimately re-insert yourself into your life with a renewed sense of purpose, inspiration and personal power. You take time to reset and step into your higher Self.
And this will all be supported by one of the most powerful, dynamic, breath-taking natural terrains in the world, where the earth and water take the lead as your healer. Enjoying simple, healthy eating, fantastic support and camaraderie and daily treatment of your body and soul.

Accomodations & Lodging
The retreat space is a beautiful, simple space in the northeast part of the island of O'ahu. It is an all-volunteer-run 501(c)(3). No retreat rental costs go to salaries or staff. All contributions go simply to the overhead and maintenance of the center.
The space was created with the intention of getting close to the land, limiting outside distractions, having simple lodging, a space for gathering and communing, and being nestled in nature to provide that deep breath away from everyday life that we all need. It is in Ka'a'awa, a small beach community nestled between spectacular mountains and beautiful white sand beaches. It has high speed internet and wi-fi to keep connected, if that is desired. The main meeting room is ideal for movement, classes, lounging and eating, and was designed to be a private and peaceful setting conducive to relaxation, reflection and creativity. The retreat center building has a large central meeting space with a 13' high wall of glass with sliding doors that open to the lush jungle, bird songs, and the rhythm of the ocean. All beds are the finest quality hotel beds that are triple sheeted for a five-star nights sleep.
There are 2 indoor private rooms with a queen bed and one outdoor private glamping room with a queen bed.
There are 3 shared rooms with twin beds; 2 of the rooms are indoors and one is outdoors glamping. In the images at the bottom of this email you'll see the indoor shared rooms shows 3 beds, but we plan on having just 2 people share the room :)
Our host said that the glamping spots were the most highly coveted so people could be more immersed in nature, and fall asleep to the sound of nature. Scroll to the bottom of this email for more pictures of the space when we visited it in June!

Retreat Leaders:
The 2023 Hawaii fall healing retreat will be led by Joseph Fiala, DACM, Emaline Fiala, DACM, and Laura Z. Weldon, ND, MS. All three of these amazing practitioners graduated from medical graduate school at the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon. Laura is a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine, as well as a Craniosacral Therapist. Joseph and Emaline are Doctors of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. All three of these practitioners also have done extensive training in body work, energetic work, dream work and more.
Joseph and Emaline founded The Light Clinic in 2010, and this will be the 4th clinic healing retreat they have led, but the first in Hawai'i! They have been visiting family in Hawai'i since 2017, and are always profoundly humbled by the power of the land and water and the kindness of the people. Just being in Hawai'i is a gift.
There are some extraordinary spots they have found over the years which can tingle you to your bones with cellular healing and inspiration. It is the most secluded inhabited land in the world (the farthest away from any other inhabited land) and you can feel that when you are there. It is alive and active with the transformative and regenerative power of the Earth and at the same time it is deeply rooted and nurturing.
The native people of Hawai'i have faced a great deal of issues with the occupation of their land, and we go into this retreat with open eyes to that. When we are there, we are visitors and respectful guests in a sacred place. We will create ways to give back and honor the land and people as a group while we are there, and we will always listen and be mindful that our actions there are done with love and respect. This is a large reason why we created this retreat as a give-back retreat. We source as much as possible from the local O'ahu community members and businesses, and offer any profit to stay with the local Hawai'ian community.

Retreat Fees
Consistent with The Light Clinic's mission to provide the highest quality integrative and holistic care at the lowest possible cost, we manage our fees well by keeping the retreat small. These fees just cover costs, but well worth it to us. We hope you take the plunge and join us on this transformation journey.
Shared room: $312.49/night or $2,499 total
Private room: $374.99/night or $2,999 total
These fees include everything the retreat has to offer:**
retreat lodging, 3 daily nutritious meals plus snacks, daily private and group treatment, health and healing workshops, art, movement classes, Family Constellation, guided meditations, teas, space to rest and relax at the beach, and more :)
** Please note that these fees do not include travel expenses.
The cost is all-inclusive for everything the retreat provides from the 10th-17th of November: food, treatments, lodging, workshops, etc, however it does not include your own travel expenses for transportation to the island and the retreat center or anything else you may want to buy while on the island.
Retreats with half as many offerings could charge twice as much, but it is our constant mission to provide the highest level of care at an affordable cost. Nothing makes us more happy than when we can do that.
Please note that the retreat space is about a 40 minute drive from the Honolulu airport. You can rent a car for the week, or reserve a taxi. Once you sign-up for the retreat, we are happy to help guide you with the logistics :)
We have also created a rest day opportunity at the end of the retreat. The formal retreat ends the morning of November 17th, but the retreat space will be open and available for rest, play, movement and overnight sleep until the morning of November 18th if you want to explore the island more on your own.
As a cost-comparison, you would be hard-pressed to simply rent a place to stay on O’ahu for a week at this price, nonetheless include all your meals plus treatments, experiences, classes and the like! So again we are very excited to be able to offer this price point.
Also, in the spirit of Aloha and in response to the recent devastating fires in Mau'i and the Big Island, we will be directing 100% of the profits from this retreat toward Hawai'i non-profits. And we are sourcing as much as possible for the retreat from the local O'ahu community such as housing, food, artisans, etc. We will cover our expenses and then move on the rest as an offering to the land and all the gifts it gives.
The investment you will make into yourself here will not only serve you, but also help our fellow humans in a time of need.
Deposit: We will need a small non-refundable deposit to secure your place. If you are unable to attend, the deposit will be put toward the final Hawai'i community donation. The deposit will need to be followed by the rest of the payment by October 15th, 2023 paid by check or cash to The Light Clinic. If you need assistance with a payment plan, please let us know and we are happy to open that conversation.
If you are getting the nudge to take a step forward, give us a call or send an email. You never know how one simple thing can change your life.
Contact us at [email protected] or by phone at 502.330.4233 to register or if you have any questions.
We look forward to sharing this journey with you!
