Joseph Fiala, L.Ac., MSOM
Joseph's greatest talent is his ability to offer ancient philosophies in a way that is approachable and applicable to modern day living. Whether it's one-on-one or in a room of multitude, Joseph can help teach and guide you into an authentic place within yourself and your surroundings. Joseph is co-owner of The Light Clinic with his wife, Emaline, and has been a practitioner of Classical Chinese Medicine at the clinic for 9 years. He's been consulting the Yi Jing throughout that time and beyond, and it has helped guide and instruct some of the most critical questions and journeys of his lifetime. He is grateful to have it as a friend, a mentor, a guide, and a growing relationship for the rest of his life.
Emaline Gray, L.Ac., MSOM
Emaline thrives on heart connection, learning of the cosmos, and connecting it all to her present life in real time and space. Exploring the Yi Jing, in essence, is just that- being able to open oneself up to guidance, walking forward with a humble heart a receiving mind, and learning from those that came before you. She is excited to share this learning, rest, spiritual and group journey with everyone in the heart of her native Kentucky. May we learn to connect to ourselves and our surrounding more deeply, in the heart of hearts.

What is the Yi Jing ~ I Ching: Book Of Changes?
The Yi Jing~The Book of Changes is most assuredly one of the most important books in world literature. It dates back thousands of years (circa 2,000 B.C.E.) and has been a formidable guide and study for eminent Chinese scholars and emperors from the past to today. This text has been molded and shaped some of the most important acts in Asian history. It is a guide for the study of change, for the wisdom of self-action and in-action in any life situation, and for what it is to be human in this world of constant change and transformation.
As an ancient Chinese divination text, the Yi Jing is composed of 64 Hexagrams.
What are hexagrams?
Hexagrams are 6 lined symbolic pictures composed of yin (broken) and yang (solid) lines. The Yi Jing is used as a guide to consult when one is trying to understand or gain guidance on a situation or life event. It was common for the Emperor of China to ask the Yi Jing daily questions regarding any and all subject matters, whether personal or for the country. The Yi Jing is still used today among scholars and laypeople to give insight into the very nature of life’s happenings. Around 500 B.C.E. Confucius wrote in his bookThe Analects:
“If I had another 50 years I would devote them all to studying the Yi, and might thereby avoid falling into error.”
The movement of heaven is full of power.
Thus the superior man makes himself strong and untiring.
~Yi Jing, Hexagram I
