Tibetan Monk Chanting & Meditation Workshop
This Sunday May 26th!
ALL DONATIONS SUPPORT THE TASHI KYIL MONASTERY AND WILL HELP PAY THE RECENT AMBULANCE BILL FOR JINPA
Sunday May 26th at The Light Clinic
2 Sessions:
1030a - noon
and
230p - 4p
(and if you like, the monks would love to have lunch together in the middle to socialize!)
Shortly before the Tibetan monks were set to depart for home in India, they visited a farm near Lebanon KY with some friends. A couple of the monks who were raised around horses did some riding while they were there. Unfortunately one of the horses got a bit uncomfortable and Jinpa was thrown off while he was riding. The horse fell as well and came down on top of him, resulting in multiple fractured ribs, facial injuries and a fractured pelvis.
As the rest of the monks returned to India, Jinpa and Lobsang remained behind for Jinpa to receive medical care. The good news is that he has recovered amazingly well! The good folks at UK Hospital and Cardinal Hill Rehab Center did some incredible work and his body did some fantastic healing. The monks are hoping to receive a scholarship to pay for the medical expenses, but that has not been finalized yet. Even with the scholarship, they will still need to cover the cost of the ambulance bill which is $1268.
We would love to send them home with their bills paid for and they would LOVE to have a chance to get out of the rehab cycle and do some more teaching!
So...we are going to have ONE MORE MONK-PPORTUNITY! COME BE WITH THE MONKS and LEARN FIRSTHAND MEDITATION & CHANTING TECHNIQUES.
This Sunday, May 26th, there will be 2 sessions at The Light Clinic. The first session will be at 1030am (this will take the place of our Last Sunday Chanting & Meditation) and the second session will be at 230pm. Both sessions will last for about 90 minutes and focus on practical advice for sitting meditation, a dharma teaching and chanting.
You can choose to come to a single session or deepen your learning and healing by coming to both. We are suggesting $30 donations for a single session and $50 donations for both, but that is totally up to you. We've already had a few kind donations toward their expenses and hope to have a few more. Feel free to give more if you have the ability to do so or IF YOU CANNOT AFFORD THE SUGGESTED DONATION, PLEASE COME ANYWAY AND PAY WHATEVER YOU SAFELY AND HONORABLY CAN, EVEN IF THAT IS NOTHING AT ALL! The teaching is the most important thing and it is an offering of compassion. Please do not let money be an obstacle. Rather we will rely on the community as a whole to help and it should work out for the individuals. :)
Hope to see you there!
