After years of appreciating treatment from Traditional Chinese Medicine and herbs, Blythe is committed to sharing the science and mystery of these oils with others. In Traditional Chinese Medicine SHEN is the residence of the heart and mind. HANA is the Japanese word for flower. So SHEN HANA is the practice of healing heart and mind with aromas from the plant world. Aromatic botanical medicine is a term that describes how scented plants are traditionally used in Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Essential oils have been used for centuries in the realm of perfumery and flavoring. Healing with these oils (often called aromatherapy) is actually a more modern development unique to western culture. Essential oils are derived from volatile plant liquids. Flowers, stems, leaves and roots may all be used in their creation. The oils capture both the substance and the spirit of the plant. The benefit of using an essential oil is delivered through your senses. The aroma travels to your brain’s limbic system and resonates with your emotions and spirit. Therapeutic essential oils have been shown to affect mood, emotion, temperament, and physical health. An individualized approach can be a more effective treatment than standard, ready-made blends found in stores. A unique individual benefits from a unique remedy. Join us and learn about top, middle, and base notes, the individual consultation process, and how custom blends of therapeutic essential oils are created and applied. You will have the opportunity to inhale beautiful aromas and hear stories about those who have benefited from this plant world gift. *Friday, November 6th (one week early for Downtown Frankfort's Candlelight Tour): TLC Open House The Light Clinic Open House, Tea Tasting & Sale for Downtown Frankfort's 36th Annual Candlelight Tour.
